The world is running amuck with the slave trade and has been for centuries. On a daily basis, a young woman is missing, leaving a heartbreaking void in their families.

Janet Porter, an Interpol agent, is waiting in expectation of an elite Special Forces group to help her disrupt a slave trade operation in progress. A five-man team arrives, a Canadian group who's unknown to her. They get the job done with spectacular precision, and one Sargent Reese falls in love with Janet.

She and the team of Ric-A-Dam-Doo complete many missions together, and Reese and Porter are a married retired couple living in Arizona, on-the-lamb so to speak when a friend's daughter and girlfriend come up missing. It has all the MO of slave trading. Still physically fit, the Reese's take up the task unbeknown to the FBI's Agent-in-Charge.

The suspense, thrilling action and characters come alive in a present-day crime, using chapters of the group and Reese's past adventures that made them who they are. There are surprises on both sides of the Mexican criminal border that keep the reader engaged.

Mr. Kerr's style is gripping and informative. His writing leaves you wanting more. So I think we'll hear more of the Reese’s.

On a daily basis, people are placed in compromising positions. However, a few lives go through dangerous ones. Sometimes in a matter of minutes, a person's life expires for unconjurable reasons.

Glenn Trust thriller starts off with a murder and a kidnapping of a woman whose Blue Eyes enchants her abductor. He cannot understand why she is so complacent with the situation to the point of her helping him commit another crime.

Innocent lives die as the State Troopers try to bring in the criminal and the person with the Blue Eyes, who has her sinister history. At the end of the road, so to speak, each will go their way.

Mr. Trust does an excellent job of identifying each character devoting short chapters for each as he has them converge into the final one. Blue Eyes history he exposes in the final. It will surprise the reader, and you will want to know more about her.

If you like thrillers, An Empty Tree is one to read.

There is a new sheriff in town, literally and figuratively.  He is Sammy to his lovely wife and very close friends.

After retiring from an NYC police department at the ripe old age of fifty, he and his wife settled down in a small Tennessee town.  Reaching the age when many people do retire, sixty-four, he applies for and begins a new career as police chief of Prospect.

Not even a week into his new endeavor, a wealthy resident is found dead at a Car Show. This event is when his and that of his new work environment come into conflict over Sam's abilities to conduct the murder investigation.

His style endears some and his respect increases as Sam goes about business even though hindered by his boss and wealthy individuals. The chief's secret investigation takes interesting turns, and how he conducts himself sets the tone for future series novels.

Mr. Zurl's understanding of the human character comes across in his prose especially in applying Sam's NYC artistic abilities to Tennessee's simple slow pace of life. Stimulating, sometimes comical, and natural flowing, you'll enjoy the characters in A New Prospect.

The concept of some mysterious elite controlling the world order using their wealth to reach their goal has been around for millennium. In Dream Angel, a teenager who has been on the run from the unknown, direct by and with her mother, arrives in a small town after many moves.

Stevie, her nickname, arrives at school meeting a new group of people. One, in particular, a young man who is different from all the boys she has ever met. He drives an expensive car, listens to classical music, talks in strange medieval speech, and is gorgeous.

Their encounters reveal that Adrian, his name, is a cut above the others. He is rich, commanding of presence, and mysterious. Stevie is falling in love, but at what cost. He is part of a world that she believes that she could never be a member.

Here is when the fun begins: Unbeknown to her, she is a member of his society because of her dead father's bloodline. This revelation comes to the forefront during one of Stevie's and Adrian's meetings.

She is the chosen one (Dream Angel,) and he is her soulmate and destiny. To get to the climax of their fusion is a relationship rollercoaster ride that has turns you don't anticipate from beginning to end.

The novel ends with an unforeseen twist that will have the reader asking for more. Luckily there is a Book 2 in the saga Dark Angel.

The religions of this world have been in conflict from the beginning of time. God of one is not always the god of another. In The Unholy, spiritual presence is understood on different levels.

Dictates and lies are used by a dominant church leader to control his flock comes in conflict with a young therapist's beliefs, who was traumatized as a child. Claire and the cleric have a disturbing connection other than their dispute over what theology to follow in getting to a heaven.

The dark side of man's reach into the unknown is one of the themes that control the background of a story that will put chills running down your spine while reading a familiar tale - Power in one man's hands leads to a disturbing and an unholy ending.

Mr. DeBlassie's prose keeps you interested in a dynamic twist on human relationships that are clouded by their belief systems. His characters are well defined and collide into an unexpected ending.

Love sometimes hits when you least expect it. Ann is upset with her boss' boss because she can't keep following her pursuit.

After working on an excavation site in the desert for months, Ann's convinced that what they are looking for is there and they are close to finding it. But money funding for the work is cut. Her heart is heavy.

This situation sets up a love affair where two people find out the truth about each out. This truth brings them together leading to an unusual ending. The suspense up to it is well worth the read.

Always have enjoyed Faith's prose and will keep reading her works.

A young princess Bethany finds herself in a position of being abducted while in route to visit another noble. What happens next is intriguing and brings her down to earth. Her real self-comes out during her adventure.

We all understand or believe in this genre a knight in shining armor will be coming to her aid. Wishing and wanting the man in a complimenting storyline to be that knight may lead the reader astray.

The two stories meet in a way that will leave the reader on edge, wanting more and a conclusion they should enjoy. Sometimes you don't get what you want.

What you will receive from reading Ms. Dufour's adventurous lead into the Dothan Chronicles is a page-turning story of a young royal in turmoil. Dufour's characters and their personal encounters are well written.

Olivia and Nate have had a rollercoaster ride in their relationship. Both living in the cut-throat fashion world where people are glamorous, they try to find a way live in love.

But love doesn't come easy when people are playing with your life. Olivia is confronted by an ex-lover who won't let go. Nate believes he is in the wrong relationship. How their conflicts collide is the storyline.

You'll be biting nails waiting for the two together. When they do, it is not over.  It isn't over until it's over. If Nate goes forward with his heart physically, he may end up in jail.

Others roadblock their love affair. Only reading this Romantic, a bit sexual, will get the answer.

My Rant: I am disappointed in my Fellow Americans

I am disappointed in my Fellow Americans

Note: I did not vote for Donald J. Trump or Hillary R. Clinton.

As you know, but if you didn't, I am a Vietnam Veteran with a college education and am well read - book a week. And I know and understand History, Geography, and Psychology, which it seems many of you don't.

When you are in a contest like the Presidential election, you know the rules are going in. It seems like many don't or didn't, because now and as in the past after the election is over, people want to change the system because their candidate didn't win according to the rules. Where were these people between this and previous elections?

Maybe they were too young. Then now you have a chance to change the system of an election after the vote of the electoral college votes as their States decided. You think you have that right now. Legally, I believe you can. I'll look it up.

But if that happens, a minority will decide the fate of our country, which is unacceptable to me. I would go to war over this move. How dare you tell me you change the system, after the fact, so the few in the electoral college can tell us who should be President? That move, my unknowledgeable, is Nazism. Pious few telling others what to do. 

The reason we have the system we have and our government founders put in place is, so a few States (California, New York, Florida, and Massachusetts) do not have the power over the rest of the country because of their population. In the present system, all States are on an equal plain.

Many candidates for Presidents have won the Popular Vote but lost the electoral vote, Democrats, and Republican, but they understand the laws of our Constitutional Republic. You want a straight Democracy move to Venezuela et al. and see what an uninformed citizenry get for voting for one person.

Lastly, if you ally with criminals like George Soros MoveOn.org and Black Lives Matter to change our laws through thuggery, you will end up fighting a war against people who know how to fight, Like Me.

Receiving salvation and spending eternity with one's God, is what many souls want to attain. In Mr. Tilbury's novel, a young lady reaches out and ends up in a community run by a nut case that speaks to God.

Her parents hire a detective to find this lost child. In the detective's pursuit, he is put in a compromising position, which leads to his son's and friend's investigating into both the girl's and his disappearance.

The whirlwind begins when these investigators find the community’s location and become part of a small group that is preparing for the journey to meet their maker. Ruled by one man of dubious intent; the events that follow makes one think of becoming an atheist looking for a way out of their predicament. 

Goosebumps will arise when reading the thrilling confrontations portrayed by Mr. Tilbury. He keeps you turning the page to see what's next up to the absurd conclusions.

It was a great Holloween read for me. You can read it on a dark and rainy night.

Time in the future, an air balloon operator finds a bundle of joy on his way as a trader while stopping for fuel. The world is sparsely populated which helps him make the decision to bring up this child.

His new parental love grows as the young lady develops. She learns his love and rules that will help her understand the world they live.

The relationships of the few characters are robust and healthy which enhanced the storyline. And, the prose moved along smoothly leading to Liberty's independence which came with a price she didn't care to pay.

Review of VENT

I'll give you a penny for your thoughts. No, I won't. But, Mr. Swisher Jr. in his book VENT will ask you questions you'll have to think about before answering or not. It’s up to you.

However, the questions intertwined throughout this simple, enthralling encounter of two men - one in route to the airport after a funeral and the other a well-known local character who speaks his mind. Unlike most meetings, theirs is unusual and funny.

They talked for hours about serious subjects, and not so dangerous ones. While they are conversing, the author asks your opinion about those items that will make you think.

Of course, there is no interaction with Mr. Swisher, but you'll enjoy the book if you come clean with your thoughts. And I believe you will learn something about yourself or not. It’s up to you.

Sometimes I just laughed and moved on. Other times, I stopped and thought.

I found the story enjoyable as presented and my venting along with the two characters was hilarious, compelling, and thought-provoking. I wanted to answer more questions, write my own, or write chapters in the blanks, hoping the men conversed more.

This book is enjoyable. Well, it depends if the subjects’ matter to you. LOL, Lionel, gotcha. Yes, the snippets of humor and personal banter are hilarious and short, which the reader will enjoy.

After reading a topic or issue stated, one can put the book down, think and mull over the item, read over, laugh again, and then move on because of each length. From explaining essential issues such as 'Hate Crimes' to mundane 'Words Fail Me' and the subject of 'Big Foot,' you will be glued to the page.

This book is fast-paced and informative, whether you are a Conservative or not. Lionel writes about themes we dealt with in an enjoyable time before 2008. After listening to his videos on Youtube.com of the political circus we were living through in 2016, I know he would communicate different motifs today.

I hope he does put to pen and paper this era as he has his past. It would be just as funny or funnier. I cannot wait, Mr. Author.

To kill or not to kill is the question when it comes to violent crime. "Should the State execute a killer?" is the undercurrent of Grisham's The Confession.

Whether you agree with his philosophy or not Grisham makes a good dramatic case for his position. A man is to make the ultimate sacrifice.

A criminal walks into the office of a minister and confesses to a crime that propels this thriller forward. Deadlines have to be met and are not.

The minister and the confessor cross State's lines, and the country becomes aware of the atrocity about to happen through the efforts of a devoted lawyer. All attempts to resolve the situation is taken with negative results.

Extreme forces come alive that make the situation volatile. Churches are burned on both sides of the conflict to keep a man alive. The result is deadly and not arrived at happily. 

This book will keep you on your toes, and you keep changing the page.

You're Stupid

Me, before going to 5^th Special Force Group, Vietnam, as Operations and Intelligence Specialist in 1969.

I have been dealing with uninformed banter all my life.  

"You are stupid for voting 'None of the above.'

You're voting  Trump." A man said to me at my local bar.

Well, I am not going to give the whole conversation. But the person who called me stupid was and always is a Democrat. He was heavy on the verbiage about the Republican's nominee character but very light on the issues.

I noted that one: The Democrats and the Republicans gave us flawed candidates who were not my fault because I am an Independent voter and could not vote in the primary. He didn't know that fundamental issue - Independents are not allowed to vote in Florida primaries.

Moving on two: I think both of the candidates are flawed and would lead into war, Clinton because of her hawkish and globalist leaning, i.e., opens borders and receiving money from George Soros. The person agreed with me when I said Trump was useless and uninformed. However, he had no idea who Mr. Soros was.

Again, the man didn't know of the issues. His only basis for voting Democrat was that they were for the working man. He could not back it up with fact.

And with many women, most real issues don't matter, only the fact that Trump is a male chauvinist pig warrant attention when they vote for President of the USA.

At eleven years old, Merrideth is going through a difficult time in her life, moving into her mother's great aunt's old house after the recent divorce of her parents. Her mother is busy with career asks for a tutor for Merrideth from a university.

Arriving at the Illinois country home is Abby, a young lady volunteering her time to help reach her goal as a teacher. She learned right away her student is intelligent but confrontative in her demeanor.

Abby does her teaching task well and sees progress in her student, with some hurdles still to overcome. While using the computer, they come across a peculiar flash from the past - a photo of the house they are in during the 1850s with living people including some famous. It's a mystery they try to unravel. 

This historic show goes into virtual reality bringing the student and teacher close together. Merrideth is more animated, learns her lessons, is friendlier towards Abby, and people in the old neighborhood. Abby meets a young man and becomes more confident in her teaching abilities.

Time and Again trilogy's book one sets the tone for some exciting conclusions. I will be looking forward to reading them.
