REview of EVERY WITCH WAY BUT GHOULS

EVERY WITCH WAY BUT GHOULS

Magical Misfits Mysteries

K. E. O'Connor

Review by Author Roy Murry

Zanda, the witch, has a familiar cat named Juno who runs the show. This novel is a cat's world from the beginning to the end.

Yes, there is a mystery of why a human's head got blown off, but that is not what keeps the story going. All the other misfit characters, from hellhounds to ghouls, give flavor to an ordinary plot.

The conversations are cute and sometimes provocative. But overall, this is a funny story of how animals run human lives. In this case, Juno runs Zanda's life.

The background and craziness of the misfits is a well-written beginning of a series - too crazy for me. If you love cats, this book is for you.

Review of THE BROKEN VIOLIN

THE BROKEN VIOLIN

The Early Path Series, Book One

M.B. TOSI

Review by Author Roy Murry

Sweet, delicate Abigail Bosworth has a robust and Godly mind. She is wealthy but left alone in the middle of the American Revolutionary War with the death of her parents.

As a sheltered person all her life, she is prey to the evil character of some man. Abigail is confronted by such a man after the death of a friend, bringing deadly conflict into her life.

Praying is a significant part of Ms. Bosworth's life (Bible and inspirational quotes are inserted in the story). She foils off her instigator many times using true religious grit.

Then, another enemy lies close to death, literally on her doorstep. It turns her situation right-side up - it is an Indian. A Christian relationship begins that completes Abigail's broken life.

M.B. Tosi proves why she is a best-selling author in this novel.

SHOP TILL YOU DROP

ELAINE VIETS

Review by Author Roy

Helen is on the lamb from a St. Louis Judge who wants to put her in servitude. It all started when she took a crowbar to her ex-husband.

Helen takes a low-paying cash-only job at an exclusive Fort Lauderdale, Florida, women's dress shop. During the few months working, she discovers the manager, Christina, is up to nefarious endeavors.

Then Christina's dead body is found in a barrel floating in the ocean. When repairing the air-conditioner, Helen finds the incriminating information the manager had on her frequent customers.

Who murdered Christina becomes complicated. Using the information she found, Helen has five people Christina has been blackmailing, all affluent customers.

The police are involved, which complicates Helen's investigation. Thumbs, the cat, is the connector that ends a crime spree.

Review of Commitment

COMMITMENT

T.K. LEIGH

Review by Author Roy Murry

Brook and Drew fall in love. The problem is she is going on sixteen, and he is soon to be nineteen, going off to college.

Drew makes a promise to Brook but cannot keep it because their fathers stepped in. However, Brook has no idea - he promised.

That is the end of romance. No one tells Brook the truth. Ten years later, nothing has changed.

The story goes back and forth - Brook's comments and Drews comments on how they love each other. Still, no one tells Brook the truth; she has another man who loves her.

This story is not a romance novel. It is a relationship story gone wrong.

T.K. Leigh does write good conversations and pulls the reader into book 2 of this series. However, I had enough of Brook and Drew's B.S.

This novel is for you if you like entanglements that go nowhere (Nouvelles).

Review of The Watchman of Rothenburg Dies

THE WATCHMAN OF

ROTHENBURG DIES

The Homeswappers

ADRIANA LICIO

Review by Author Roy Murry

According to the Police Inspector of Rothenburg, Dora and Etta are at it again - sticking their noses in places they should not. They are on vacation, house-swapping, when the watchman is murdered on their night town tour.

Dora inherits the watchman's Basset hound, Leon. The dog is a linchpin in finding the killer, and Etta realizes it at the end.

The Inspector is right about the two retired school teachers. They meet everyone associated with the crime, sleuthing when another person dies.

One thing leads to another, and one of our Sherlock Holmes is put in a deadly position.

This cozy mystery ends in a dog-licking conclusion and hits all the right bells for Book 1 in a series. It is an excellent, fun read.

Review of GENESIS ACADEMY

GENESIS ACADEMY

The Seer's Legacy, Book 1

When you are in your teens, life can be complicated. In her last year of High School, Sophie falls into a whirlwind because of circumstances beyond her family's control.

Her family is at war with a part of their international Order, and her parents want Sophia to be safe, so they send her to Genesis Academy with her cousin Patrick. 'The Chosen One,' Sophia Stanton's life changes as she develops into a Seeterpreter.

Xander and his sister, Bella, become secondary characters, helping Sophia cope with her changes and protecting her from the evil infiltrating the academy. As Sophia's powers get more robust, so do the people who are out to destroy her and her family's legacy.

The unusual ending leads the reader into Book 2. The characters are colorful and exciting enough to follow in this series.
