Review of THE GIFT OF FEAR

THE GIFT OF FEAR

Survival Signal that

Protect us from Violence

GAVIN DE BECKER

Review by

Author Roy Murry

If your Common Sense and Intuition need revision, this book is for you. De Becker gears the book toward many women's trust in men they associate with - husbands, boyfriends, men they meet, and abusers.

I found the book thought-provoking and educational for insecure people. However, strong-minded humans will enjoy the read, taking away little besides the stressful stories of others.

De Becker's knowledge of deranged humans is profound. He devils into how society confronts them and how those people develop, putting fear into any loving parent bringing up a child.

THE GIFT OF FEAR is a well-written and gripping read.

Review of THE WILD CHILD

THE WILD CHILD

(The Bride Trilogy, Book 1)

Mary Joe Putney

Review by Author Roy Murry

A faerie-like creature, Lady Meriel is MAD, according to one uncle, who has nefarious reasons. However, if she were married, that madness would somehow disappear, believes another uncle with joint control.

Because of Lord Maxwell's love conflict, Dominic, his twin, shows up as the betrothed instead of Maxwell. They made a deal, but both expected something else.

The above sets the plot for what produces endearing encounters between Meriel and Dominic. Then, however, evil enters their loving relationship, leading to an entr'acte and a deadly ending.

This novel is too long for me. But the story keeps the reader's attention because of the characters' actions. Romantics will be happy with this story.

Review of FLIP-FLOPS and MURDER

FLOPS-FLIPS and MURDER

Barefoot Sleuth Mysteries, Book 1

H.Y. HANNA

Review by Author Roy Murry

Twenty-six-year-old Londoner Ellie's Aunt Olive, author extraordinaire, invites her to the west coast of Florida during Europe's winter. Unfortunately, when she arrives, the aunt is nowhere to be found; the next day, a writer at the convention is in the swimming pool dead outside Ellie's room.

Ellie has no clue what is happening but involves herself, sleuthing in a non-logical way. She meets and talks to people and learns a lesson - do not believe everything you are told or hear.

A non-swimmer, Ellie ends up in the deep pool in more ways than one. As a result, she loses one lousy relationship and gains a good one, ending this adventure.

I have lived in Florida for years and picked up Ms. Hanna's writing flaws, which most readers will not. However, the background story and the characters are well-developed to enhance good sequels.

Review of THE KEY TO JUSTICE

THE KEY TO JUSTICE

DENNIS CARSTENS

Review by Author Roy Murry

This legal thriller keeps the reader on the edge of their seat. Carstens' legal knowledge enhances the core story of a man on trial for serial killings in Minnesota.

The twist and turns of who is the real murderer are affected by police involvement. Interwoven throughout the investigation of the crimes are deceiving clues that lead to a page-turning story.

This Book, 1 of Mr. Carstens' series, has all the good qualities: characters you want to follow up; and a well-defined background. In addition, his writing is crisp and fast-moving.

The main characters, Marc and Maddy, spark up the series. He is a well-versed lawyer; she is a beautiful P.I. you want to watch in action. They help to bring this action-filled novel to an uncharacteristic explosive ending for a legal drama.

I have read two of Dennis Carstens' novels; all stories stand-alone except for these main characters. Fantastic reads.

Review of UNCONDITIONAL

UNCONDITIONAL

LEXXIE COUPER

Review by Author Roy Murry

Maci has won a scholarship to study koalas in Australia. Raph is a celebrity attending the University of Sydney because his sister married a prince.

She has Parkinson's, which in many ways controls her life. But, because of an episode, they meet in the Sydney Airport men's bathroom and kiss, which sets the tone for their adventure.

Both are gorgeous, according to the people around them and how they see each other. However, Maci and Raph have hidden flaws.

This novel is a romance, so you know they will fall for each other without revealing their complete background. Unfortunately, these problems lead to some interruptions in it.

Raph's love is unconditional, he says, and he proves it unconditionally at the end of the story.

Lexxie Couper's writing will win you over to buy the series.

Review of LIBERAL MISERY

LIBERAL MISERY

EDDIE SCARRY

Review by Author Roy Murry

This book is 'Political Commentary,' by a man who tells you he is gay at the beginning of the first of five long chapters with extensive references. Eddie writing this is not essential to me.

I read Thomas Sowell's 'INTELLECTUALS and SOCIETY.' without knowing he is black. What is important to me is content for the inquisitive mind or the fun enjoyment of reading.

LIBERAL MISERY is a book for the Inquisitive Mind, most of my followers. He gets to the point of his comments and backs them up with references - more like a dissertation than a story.

The subjects covered are contemporary: political behavior, comedy, elections, riots, and what the left calls an insurrection. Mr. Scarry's comments are conservative-based.

Whether you agree with Eddie or not, the insight is worth this fun read when you know the conclusions of the events within the book.
