Jolene or Jo's father
lost half of their gold mine claim to The Gambler. Jo's problems are three-fold
- he also gave her away to marry The Gambler; they support Indians who live on
the property, and he dies the same night.
Her father's murder and who has the actual claim to the property is the mystery. Only a judge can make that legal decision, which comes at the end of this volatile story.
Unpredictable because Jo keeps on putting her foot in her mouth, trying to find out what happened. Also, she gets into a written agreement with The Bounty Hunter to help with her predicament.
A lot is happening in this story, making it an excellent first book for a series. I may return for more, but you should enjoy this Cowgirl Mystery first.
